The mission of this program is teaching (education provider) and scientific research, involving, on the one hand, conveying of expertise in the field of criminal sciences, and on the other, their involvement in research activity.

The profound process of reform of criminal law, which was triggered by the entry into the European Union, has had and still has a significant impact on criminal sciences. The phases and consequences of this reform process must be known by legal professionals, through a thorough, systematic study under the guidance of specialized teachers.
The M.A. Degree program Criminal Sciences, considers, in another aspect, the knowledge of the ways and means of preventing and combating crime, a phenomenon that is currently experiencing a strong resurgence and diversification. The program responds in this way to the urgent need of education and training in various fields: justice, law, police and others.
The complexity of the legal realities of Romania, as well as the fact that our country is now a member of the European Union requires the existence of M.A. programs in this field, especially since the criminal policies are also undergoing a continuous process of harmonization. Moreover, the adoption of new Codes - Criminal and Criminal Procedure - represent the creation of a coherent legislative framework in criminal matters, aiming to implement this framework of the adopted regulations at the level of the EU.
Moreover, Romania's entry into the European Union requires knowledge of criminal law in European countries as well as knowledge of the progress concerning the unification of some criminal and criminal procedure law institutions. From this perspective the M.A Criminal Sciences was organized; the courses within this M.A. being designed as a way of improving and supplementing the training of specialists in criminal law, but also of other categories of university graduates.
The specific objectives of this program are:
- presenting the new Criminal Code and the new Code of Criminal Procedure;
- presenting the role of the Constitutional Court in judging unconstitutional exceptions in criminal matters and the role of the European Court of Human Rights in this regard;
- the analysis of opinions of doctrine related to recent legislative changes in the field;
- presenting legal regulations in the field of criminal sciences, with special reference on the issues of corruption, organized crime, money laundering, drugs, tax evasion, I.T. criminality etc ;
- comparative analysis of the main criminal and criminal procedure institutions established in the regulations of European countries;
- analysis of judicial practice in criminal law and criminal procedure law, in line with existing solutions in this field in EU countries;
- capitalization from the experience within higher education in the country and abroad.

The faculty has its own specialized laboratories (I.T. labs, multimedia) with proper equipment for all disciplines that have scheduled such activities, with license for all necessary software, which enable the carrying out of the disciplines in the curriculum under optimal conditions.
The Library of the University respectively that of the faculty is equipped with lecture halls and its own book collection according to the disciplines provided in the curricula, on university study cycles, the needed resources for carrying out the activity being provided in the income and expenditure budgets.  Furthermore, within the library, students receive free online access for all the national and international databases.
