History

By creating the Law Faculty in 1992, the “Danubius” University from Galati, Romania chose a beginning that coincided with the initiation of major changes in the Romanian society.
The Law Faculty was provisionally approved to operate by the Government decision nr. 1371/1996 and then accredited by the Law no. 409 of 06.20.2002.
The “Law” specialization, as a tradition of the Romanian academic community, has covered, after 1990, an extensive process of adapting to the new socio-economic-policy reality. In this respect, the Law Faculty has established to make a significant contribution to training specialists in the juridical domain, able to participate in strengthening the judicial dimension of the Romanian State, as a state member of the European Union.

The Law Faculty's programs are organized under the form of full time, part time and distance learning, in accordance with the Law of National Education no.1/2011 and the Law no. 288/2004 concerning the organization of higher education studies. The Faculty of Law was accredited under the form of full time leaning, through Law no. 409/2002, and the Government Decision no.  966/2011, and following the assessment carried out by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, was accredited under the form of part-time learning.
The program of distance learning within the Faculty of Law was accredited by the Government Decision no. 707/2012.
In 2007, following the evaluation carried out by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education the following M.A. programs in the field of Law were accredited: European Law, Law and Public Administration; Criminal Sciences, approved by the order of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports.  In the academic year 2012-2013, these programs operate under of the Minister of Education, Research, Youth and Sports Order no.  4945/2012 concerning the fields and M.A. programs evaluated by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education organized within higher education institutions.
The Faculty of Law has been subjected to periodic assessment in 2009, the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education thus giving the qualification "trust".
By its assumed mission, its established objectives, by the educational process and the quality of teachers, the Law Faculty has demonstrated its viability and represents a guarantee for the future.
