The Faculty of Economic Sciences was authorized to function through the Romanian Government's Decision no. 294 from the 16 July 1997, being accredited by the Government's Decision no. 1609/2004. The reason for the Faculty of Economic Sciences to function within the "Danubius" University of Galati, was imposed by the need to prepare specialists in economics, which to pragmatically and ideally determine the economic and social life, through professionalism and competence, to exploit local potential for economic development and to adapt to the increased demands of the real market and of the graduates of universities in the region.

We provide all the necessary conditions, including through the capitalization of experience of higher education in the country and abroad, adapting the curricula and the syllabuses to the requirements imposed by our membership in the European Union, in order for the graduates of B.A. and M.A. study programs to acquire and solidify the theoretical and practical knowledge in specific areas, such as: finance, business administration; accounting and financial management; Cybernetics, Statistics and I.T. Economics .

In this respect, the Faculty of Economic Sciences is concerned to ensure future economists a wide profile, in terms of their preparation, required by current and future economic realities thus responding to the goal concerning the mobility of specialists and places of employment.

Under the guidance of professors, B.A. and M.A. students are participating in scientific events annually organized within the University, but also in other universities. Many of the awarded works have been published in specialized journals "Acta Universitatis Danubius". Œconomica" and „EuroEconomica" or in the conference's volumes.
