A New Romanian - American Experience at Danubius. WIN-WIN!

ZP STEVE

The Open Day to "Danubius" University had over 200 high school students who wanted to interact with the representatives of the university education system in the United States, namely: Professor Steve O. Michael (Chairman of the Board Directors of "Danubius" University and Executive Vice President & Provost Charles Drew University of Medicine & Science US) and his daughter MICHAEL Mareda.

In the debate on the topic: Higher education in the US, an event organized by the "Danubius" University in partnership with Technology High School of Railways Transport of Galati, on 15th May, hundreds of young people from the National College "Al. I. Cuza”, National College “Mihail Kogalniceanu”, Emil Racovita High School, Theoretic High School “Danube”, The Economic College “Virgil Madgearu”, etc., had the chance to learn directly from the Special guests of this event, everything they wanted to know about high school or student’s life from the United States.

Steve O. Michael kept his promise from February when he was part of the “Danubius” University Caravan, reserving them a “special edition” dedicated to their future, most of them wanting to know how they can live the experience of the American’s education experience.

Professional growth was the essence of Steve O. Michael’s presentation, who firstly as a parent and then as a teacher, managed to make the young people think things through, eager to have as soon as possible the most beautiful house, the fastest car, in short, to have a plentiful life. But the chosen way to get there is very important. They have to make a plan that cannot exist without a bold dream without looking responsibly into the future. One of the biggest mistakes that the usual young people make from around the world when thinking about career is imitating the profession of parents or friends without really wanting to work in that area or be made for that profession; this is a mistake that leads to professional failure, according to the study of Professor Steve O. Michael.

On this occasion, young people have learned that they can find occupations that suit them by accessing the platform on counseling and career guidance, CAREER4U, a tool successfully tested in many high schools in Galati.

“How does the American youth manage? First they dream, then they self-determine.

There is a university for everyone: big or small, with difficult admission or not, with high fees or without any fee, close or far to home... IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A DREAM WHICH THROUGH EDUCATION YOU CAN ACHIEVE!” Concluded Professor Steve O. Michael, PhD.

ZP MAREDA

Professor Steve MICHAEL was accompanied by his daughter, MICHAEL Mareda, a charismatic young girl, aged 14 who presented to his colleagues from Romania her high school life experience from HATBORO – HORSHAN - Pennsylvania, SUA.

MARED’s Presentation has caused the young people from Galati to answer the American curious high school students’ questions, who wanted to know how is the life of the high school in Romania, if the Romanian youth pay tuition fees in high school or not, if the notes are expressed in figures or letters and ultimately, where the young people have fun after hours.

Mareda was invited the next day, by his colleagues from Technology High School of Railways Transport of Galati, being impressed by the welcoming given by young high school students who, dressed in Romanian port and declared their love, kindness and humanity greeting her with salt and bread, sacred elements in our tradition.

Certainly MARED’s visit in Romania was a win- win experience; both she and the young teenagers have discovered things about life, education and culture of both worlds: North America and Romania.

The students attending the Danubius Open Day have visited the university campus and finally they have supported the students and the teachers involved in the football match: Students vs. Teachers.
