The meeting between volunteering mentors and young journalists took place in a very special context: the Doctor Honoris Causa Ceremony, awarding the title to Professor Iurie SEDLEŢCHI, PhD by the Senate of "Danubius" University. This was not a random choice, as on this occasion, The University of European Studies of Moldova, whose rector is Professor Iurie SEDLEŢCHI, PhD, joined the project ReStart.

The moment long awaited by Danubian students and graduates was that of receiving the Agerpres press cards, preceded by pleasant and profound motivational interventions of the two special guests of ReStart.

restart godinacCristi Godinac said: "I congratulate the "Honoris Causa Doctors" who will receive the ReStart cards. We need quality, real press, not gossip, which means truth, courage, freedom of expression. There is a big difference between a journalist and a publicist. Romanian mass-media is a jungle. Our contribution (MediaSind and Agerpres) is that you will be greeted by the best professionals to create quality material (press articles, photographs, films, etc.) and on May 3, the International Day of Freedom of Expression, the best results will be awarded and published on the Agerpres and its partners' websites."

Marilena GHEORGHIŢĂ: "Journalism is more than a profession. It is a passion that will fill you with a lot of energy and excitement. In any discussion with your loved ones you will find a topic for a story, as that is what journalism makes of you! You are lucky! From the moment you step into the media institutions you can make the difference between value and non-value. Do not be afraid to ask questions. The only bad question is the one that has not been addressed."

Before receiving press cards, the volunteer journalists watched two videos made by AGERPRES. An impressive video about the historical archive AGERPRESS National Press Agency's photos. 9360 Km of pictures to be digitized for "keeping the destiny of this people" (Alexandru Giboi - President Agerpres). A second clip shown to the journalistic profession freshly initiated, a colorful Romania, the professionals of AGERPRES conveyed the message of what they want to do through the Restart project: to find different people, different places, different stories. A more beautiful Romania!

A successful project means concrete, tangible results. And the purpose of this project is quality press and real journalists, we are convinced that the press cards received today by the volunteering journalists motivate them to submit all due diligence to become journalists employed at Agerpres, people that can clean the jungle of the Romanian media, to discover and reveal that more beautiful Romania!

We should mention that the pilot project was also launched at the "Danubius" University along with the National News Agency AGERPRES two years ago (see here). During this period, students were briefed by experts of MediaSind and Agerpres with the principles of journalism profession and with the rules of the Journalism Code of Ethics. Having a real success, the project has now been extended to other universities.

Congratulations and good luck!
